THe Berlin wall
The Berlin Wall separated east and west Berlin, Germany. The wall included guard towers and thick cement walls. The East side was considered by Stalin as the "Soviet" side. The other side was for the capitalists. The wall was knocked down, but there was a lot of controversy with it. There was the Berlin Airlift which was in the US favor, and the way the USSR was viewed by the outside world.
The US viewed the wall as an opportunity to be viewed as the hero. The US did the Berlin Airlift which was when the US would fly and drop goods to children and to the people who needed the support. If the USSR took away the packages in a time of starving and deprivation then they would have been seen a inhumane. The US viewed this as a win.
The USSR were seen as the enemy to most in this situation. They were not supplying their citizens with sufficient amounts of necessities. They took the wall down so that the US would not continue to get the praise for being the good guys.
In the war this was viewed as a victory for the US since the USSR had to take down their barrier, and did not supply proper things to their people. It was a big win for the US and helped capitalism look good to East Berlin.
