THE vietnam War
The Vietnam war was similar to the Korean war in that it was the US and USSR fighting behind the two sides to get back at one another, and spread their ideas. The war was against North and South Vietnam. The North was backed by USSR and South by US. The USSR and US slowly depleted in efforts. The way the war was fought was most similar to World War I. Men were in trenches, and had the same illnesses from that.
The US put Johnson in charge of the war completely. The US went in to help the South Vietnamese, but they made ties to the North. Making this war a hard one to fight. US in the end lost the war. The North did an attack on all of the bases at once making it hard for them to help each other. The US citizens saw this attack on television which made them mad since they had been told we were winning, or doing better than it appeared. The US soldiers were taken out of Vietnam, but there are still men who have never been found that no one knows what happened to them. Causing hardships for the citizens to comprehend.
The USSR saw this war as a huge victory in the Cold War. They spread communism and defeated the US. They started with only having the North as communist, and then the factors of the South's leader being changed so frequently and the people not liking the one of the time it was a perfect time to strike. The USSR made great advances during this time with communism, and its spread.
This war was a big deal for the War. The USSR had a definite win, and the US had been defeated. It showed the USSR that they had a chance to spread communism and become the greatest power on the world. It gave them hope.
